History of GF Piping Systems

Georg Fischer is proud of its long history of success with roots going back more than 200 years when Johann Conrad Fischer laid the foundation. What began 1802 with a small copper smelting plant and development works for new alloys, has since developed to the global industrial concern as we know it today. Towards the end of 19th century, the company first began with producing the long-standing malleable cast iron fittings, thereby creating the basis of today’s division GF Piping Systems. This day, it has become established on the market as a leading supplier of piping systems for the safe and reliable transport of liquids and gases. Despite the constant change, innovational strength and customer orientation remain the defining values for GF Piping Systems up to today.

Type 563 Wafer Style Aqua Butterfly Valve

01-T563-660x480

Specifically for water applications, the Type 563 Aqua Butterfly Valve from Georg Fischer operates at pressures of up to 150 PSI and can handle temperatures from 32°F to 142°F. The wetted inner body is made of PVC with EPDM seals. Because of the plastic body, the Aqua Valve is lightweight and installs easily between flanges. The Aqua Valve is compatible with ANSI and DIN flanges and is available from 2″ to 12″. The Q-ring seals allow the valve to be installed without additional gaskets.

Type 561/562 Check Valve

01-T561-660x480

The Check Valve Types 561 and 562 ring in a new generation of valves, featuring more safety, simplicity, and efficiency.

Our engineers focused primarily on two areas in the development of the new Check Valves: How can we make an established product type even more reliable? How can we reduce the wear and tear on moving parts, and consequently, keep maintenance to a minimum? The solution was to completely redesign the inner workings of the valve.

GF Piping Systems developers examined every function and optimized every detail until a much-improved valve performance was measured.

The two Check Valves Type 561 and Type 562 fit into the most common piping systems worldwide due to our comprehensive product range.

MULTI/JOINT® 3000 Plus

Unique sealing system
The MULTI/JOINT® 3000 Plus system comprises wide
range fittings, flange adaptors, reduction pieces,
bends, duck feet bends and end caps of ductile iron in
the ranges 2″ – 24″. Thanks to the unique wide range
sealing system all fittings can be made restraint as long
as the nominal diameters are the same. All you need to
know is the outside diameter of the pipe, the medium
and the working pressure.

Type 578 Lug Style Butterfly Valve

 T568-Valve-Pic

The 578 Butterfly valve from Georg Fischer has all the innovative designs aspects our butterfly valve line is known for but now available in a lug style body. The new valve is ideal when the end of line service is required. With the double eccentric valve principal, a variety of wetted materials, and a comprehensive actuation package, it is the most versatile plastic butterfly valve on the market. Unlike most traditional valves, our valve does not use a thick rubber boot for the disc and flange seal. The 578 valve has an off-center disc and shaft that disengages the disc from the body during operation. Since the disc is not in contact with the disc seal when opening and closing, there is significantly less wear on the valve parts.

Another result of the double eccentric design is reduced torque. Over time, traditional boot style valves have a tendency to become harder to operate which is troublesome for maintenance and operation personnel. The increased torque can also cause electric actuators to fail prematurely. Even when comparing new valves, our design requires approximately 50% less torque.

New Generation Diaphragm Valve

01-T5-660x480

The new Generation Diaphragm Valve of GF Piping System sets new standards regarding safety, efficiency and simplicity.

Instead of the commonly used four metal screws, it has a central union nut. This non-corrosive connection is characterized by homogeneous temperature behaviour, even surface pressure and high-pressure rating up to 240 PSI (for water use only).

The optimal flow geometry offers double the Cv values. With almost linear flow characteristics, this guarantees stable processes.

The weir of the zero-static valve has been moved directly to the pipe wall of the main line. Therefore, a dead leg was reduced to an absolute minimum, and thus, purity was increased at the same time.

Standard equipment, like a lockable handwheel, a two-coloured indicator, and an interface for a self-adjusting limit switch, set new standards in terms of user-friendliness.

Schedule 80 PVC

pvc-330x240

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most broadly used thermoplastic materials, common to many industries. PVC is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and many other corrosive materials.  The wide range of joining options that include solvent welding, threaded and mechanical connections make it ideal for easy, error-free installations.  GF Harvel Schedule 80 PVC systems are light, tough and provide exceptional corrosion resistance for applications with operating temperatures up to 140⁰F (60⁰C).

GF Harvel PVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings exhibit consistent quality with uniform properties. GF Harvel uses its own custom blends of PVC compounds to offer you two pipe brand choices to ensure that desirable physical properties are maintained for various applications. GF Harvel’s Industrial PLUS brand exhibits exceptional quality you’ve come to expect from GF Harvel, including CSA (Canadian Standards Association) B137.3 approval and uniform physical properties; making it the preferred choice of fabricators and custom houses. For customers who do not require CSA or fabrication grade pipe, you can choose to use our Industrial brand. Schedule 80 PVC is gray in color and is more resistant to crushing and puncture than Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings.

Both GF Harvel PVC Schedule 80 pipe brands and our moulded and fabricated fittings are ideal for numerous applications including chemical delivery systems, potable water systems, water treatment systems, irrigation systems, vacuum lines, and many other industrial applications such as chilled water systems, industrial plating, and chemical drainage systems. GF Harvel also offers various pipe end options including belled end, gasketed, roll grooved and threaded as well as custom dimensions and lengths.

Please note: If fabrication grade pipe or CSA approval is required for pipe sizes 1/2″ to 12″, please order our Industrial Plus piping system.
